History of the School

Late Mr. Samuel Thomas Bunyan,is the founder of the Mary’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School ,Tindivanam in the year 1972. He was moved with compassion at the plight of the poor and down-trodden children in the nearby slums and threw himself tirelessly in to mobilizing the resources needed to start an institution for these needy children irrespective of religion, caste or creed. He constructed thatched sheds and started an English Medium Kindergarten School with 15 poor students .

Later on he constructed concrete buildings and developmental activities were carried on in a reasonable manner for the upliftment of the of the rural poor and to impart education to the neglected children below the poverty line.A section of deserving poor children were offered free education.Service minded and dedicated people and volunteers of the society came forward to help the institution which slowly grew in to a Primary then into a High School and now a Higher Secondary School.
